Who pays the vet?
How pet insurance claim money moves, checked against each insurer's own pages.
Not insurance advice. We explain how insurers describe their claim payments on their own websites. It is not insurance, financial or veterinary advice. Read our disclosures.
Three ways claim money can move
Insurer pays the vet
Example: Trupanion, at clinics connected to its VetDirect Pay software.
How it works →Insurer pays you, fast
Example: Pumpkin's PumpkinNow, for eligible claims of $500 or more. Money goes to your bank.
How it works →You pay, then get paid back
Example: Lemonade, which says it “works on a reimbursement basis.”
How it works →Color is never the only cue: each model has its own icon and label.
